11:11 Systems deepens VMware bet with Digital Sense acquisition amid partner shake-up
11:11 Systems has acquired Australia based cloud provider Digital Sense, marking its seventh VMware focused acquisition in recent years and underscoring how Broadcom’s overhaul of the VMware partner ecosystem continues to reshape the cloud services market.
The New Jersey headquartered company confirmed that the deal strengthens its VMware cloud and managed services presence across Asia Pacific, particularly in Queensland, where Digital Sense has built a regional customer base. The acquisition also complements 11:11 Systems’ existing operations in New South Wales and Victoria.
Since Broadcom completed its 61 billion dollar acquisition of VMware in 2023, it has narrowed its VMware Cloud Service Provider program to a smaller group of partners. Consequently, tough choices regarding their future within the VMware ecosystem have faced many former VMware partners. Larger providers with deeper technical resources have moved quickly to consolidate expertise and customer portfolios.
Marc Beder, General Manager for Asia Pacific at 11:11 Systems, said the company has built a global VMware focused team through a series of acquisitions. According to Beder, integrating Digital Sense adds engineering depth and expands the company’s ability to support complex VMware deployments across the region.
Digital Sense previously operated under telecommunications group Aussie Broadband, which cited upcoming changes to the partner landscape as a factor in the sale. Representatives from the company stated that in order to remain competitive in the ever-changing VMware cloud market, they needed a lot of investment. Aligning with a global VMware specialist offered a clearer long term path for customers.
Over the past three years, 11:11 Systems has acquired several VMware centered businesses, including iland Cloud, Green Cloud Defense, Sungard Availability Services, Ntirety, Faction, Unitas Global and now Digital Sense. The move is part of a larger trend of consolidation as companies adjust to new licensing models and tougher participation requirements in the VMware ecosystem.
Industry analysts point out that the changes in VMware’s cloud partner program have led to a spate of mergers and acquisitions globally. These developments may affect customers with VMware infrastructures.
As partner requirements tighten and investment thresholds rise, the VMware cloud services market continues to concentrate around larger, technically specialized providers. The Digital Sense deal illustrates how that consolidation is unfolding in real time across the Asia Pacific region.
