Lovable’s massive Google Cloud expansion puts Claude, Gemini at the center of its AI bet

Lovable just made a much bigger commitment to Google Cloud, and the scope of it speaks to where AI-powered development is heading.

The Stockholm startup, which lets users build functional web apps by typing what they want, confirmed Wednesday a new multiyear agreement with Google Cloud. A source familiar with the terms says it involves a fivefold jump in Lovable’s cloud usage, along with expanded access to both Anthropic’s Claude and Google’s Gemini models for its core AI features.

The Anthropic angle is worth pausing on. Google put $10 billion into Anthropic this April in cash and compute credits, with up to $30 billion more tied to how the company performs commercially. Routing enterprise AI workloads through Google’s infrastructure toward Claude is precisely what helps Anthropic hit those numbers. And Lovable, given its growth, is a meaningful piece of that puzzle.

The company crossed $400 million in annualized revenue in February, adding $100 million in a single month with fewer than 150 employees. It also claims adoption across more than half of Fortune 500 companies in some capacity. Those are figures that would turn heads in any market, but for a European startup they are genuinely rare.

The deal also connects Lovable to two other parts of Google’s ecosystem. Its AI agent will be sold through the Gemini Enterprise Agent Gallery, Google Cloud’s marketplace for enterprise tools, a move that both companies had signaled at a major cloud conference back in April. On the security front, Lovable will integrate with Wiz, the cybersecurity firm Google acquired for $32 billion earlier this year. The integration gives developers a way to catch vulnerabilities in AI-generated code in real time, before they become someone else’s problem.

For Google, there is a practical reason to keep Lovable close. The company has projected capital expenditures of up to $190 billion this year and is raising equity to help cover it. Locking in fast-growing AI customers, while pushing usage toward Anthropic’s models, helps make the math work over time.
