webalizer vs mod_throttle
I have one site hosted as a shared account on my server (with mod_gzip installed). Now, the stats given by mod_throttle and that given by webalizer are completely different... here are the stats (on May 24th, at around 4:20pm):mod_throttle
Hits: 450060
KB Transfered: 3560061
webalizer
Hits: 746617
KB Transfered: 1506424
Note: the webalizer has started recording the activity earlier than mod_throttle. Now, how come the numbers are way off? For sure, the total hits as recorded by mod_throttle is about 6 times higher than that recorded by webalizer and the data transfer as recorded by mod_throttle is more than twice as recorded by webalizer (although webalizer was installed even before mod_throttle).
Does/will the installed mod_gzip affect the recording mechanisms? Could it be the case that mod_throttle was recording the traffic before it was being gzipped (by mod_gzip)? How would one check for this?
At any rate, which one would be more reliable; which one do you believe more?
Please help me understand this... Thanks a lot...
cheers,
