Project: Build web server
I am experienced in web hosting with a Cobalt RaQ, but now want to see what I can build on my own.
The server will used to host around 150 very low usage sites (most having 25mb per month total transfers).
Looking for any suggestions with the following:
*Server:
CPU
RAM
HDD
(Hardware budget =<$1000, note: case does not have to be rackmount. )
*Linux Version (Server will only offer HTTP, FTP, SSI, POP3 & CGI for sites, users don't get telnet(admin only), PHP, SQL)
*Admin & User Control Panels

The biggest unknown that I have setting up the OS to host numerous sites via one or two IP's (much like the RaQ does). Guess that'll be part of the learning curve.
Server Backup will be handled by a networked machine.
