Nslookup wierd stuff

Hi I am trying to run nslookup on one of my machines and when I do i get this message.

*** Can't find server name for address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: Non-existent host/domain

I would normally just figure that it means revers inst configured except for the fact that nslookup works fine on my secondary server if I put it in the resolv.conf file. Neither one of these have revers but the secondary works and primary doesn't both dig fine and have same setup and software any ideas????? my resolv.conf lists
nameserver Primary
nameserver Secondary

nslookup says Non-existent host/domain
for the primary but will default to secondary just fine and run nslookups
