What is klogd?

Hi,

My server got a klogd running which takes 98% of CPU Process. The load is 1.35. Quite high!

What is klogd?
What does it do?

I don't want to reboot the server soon, since
I just reboot it yesterday. Is it safe just to kill klogd?
