help! whm and virtual "NS servers"

i have a client i setup as a reseller so he could have private dns servers. His domain is (dot.com, fake name used to protect :-) so i edited his names servers under edit reseller, and put in ns.dot.com and ns2.dot.com

I then went into his dns record for dot.com and added

ns A 209.123.xxx.xxx
ns2 A 209.123.xxx.xxx

both ips are not in use. I can now ping the ips using ns.dot.com and it works fine, however i set his own domain name to use those dns servers 2 days ago and now the name will no longer resolve, please help i need to get this fixed ASAP.
