email problem / reverse DNS lookup
Hello,I've been struggling with a technical problem i have with an host. I have moved my site from a german host to one in the US.
Everything went fine except that some emails which i sent from the US server are not sent to certain email addresses. Those are especially from a big german email provider called GMX. So everybody who has an email with them cannot receive emails from the new US based server. (like antosch@gmx.de) The funny thing is when i execute the php script which sends the mails from the shell it works fine, not so from the browser.
I had this problem before with my first host, which was the reason i switched to another one. The new host solved the problem and if i remember correctly it was because of the missing so-called reverse DNS lookup. So i asked my new US host to set that up. I thought reverse DNS lookup means that when you type in the IP number in the browser it resolves to the domain name, hence the name reverse lookup.
But now the guy from the new host told me thats not what is reverse lookup, because i complained its not working.
So maybe someone could help me here, cause I am really getting desparate here..
