What could be a reason?
Got a q.
It came to my attention that the traffic on one of my boxes has dropped signficantly twice during the last day, while my first thought was a problem with another box (which holds the main site and the box in question is a file server), but it was fine.
Then I've noticed a massive spike in open TCP connections, but I have no idea what could be a reason.

the system is p4 2.8 HT, 1.5 gigs ram, 2xIDE 7200 RPM, 100 mbit connection. OS - RedHat9. webserver - thttpd (it could be a reason for the prob).
