DNS nameserver question
Hi all,I have rather limited knowledge on DNS and nameservers. I just know that nameservers help domains point to an IP of a web server.
My question concerns how one would go about "spreading" their DNS across several different servers. I'm not sure about the terminology for this.
Basically, here's the possible situation I'll be looking at as my hosting operation grows:
I set up my domain ph23man.com, and nameservers ns1.ph23man.com and ns2.ph23man.com at a hosting company called ABC through a reseller account. I fill up that account and decide to purchase another reseller account at another company, XYZ (totally different server at a different datacenter).
I want to keep current clients at ABC while putting new clients at XYZ. Could I just set up ns3.ph23man.com and ns4.ph23man at XYZ and have everything at ABC running the way it is?
Of course if that's possible, the following question would be can I setup ns5.ph23man.com and ns6.ph23man.com at a third host and so on?
Or is there a different way to do this? I'm just starting up but the majority of hosts use several servers yet provide only 2 nameservers for all their clients. My situation is a little different but I'd like to know how those hosts configure that setup.
Any help is much appreciated.
