WHM backups

It says in backup configuration /home is a very bad idea

But technically is it possible that i create a folder /home/backup and put /home/backup as the backup folder

I have a 40 gig harddrive and 1 gig of data so shortage of space is not a problem.
I want to ask is above doable before messing up anything .
