SSL as shared or individual ports?

Just thinking about the best way to implement ssl on my single IP box. Looking for pros and cons.

1. Shared setup: https://www.mydomain.com/theirdomain/stuff
Good for folks who don't want to buy their own cert. Bad as far as easy setup goes as I have to maintain symlinks under mydomain.com for all their secured content.

2. Assign new ports to the cert like: https://www.theirdomain.com:444 445 446 etc.
Good cause I probably end up with fewer setup/support calls. Bad cause the customer has to foot a $200 plus cert bill.

Of course I could always do both and charge accordingly. ; )

Anyone done either of these? How did it work out for you?

Thanks,
Iggy
