Server Load of 90?!
I was working on a couple of websites over the weekend when I noticed one of the servers was performing sluggish so I went to check out the cpanel stats to discover the load was hovering around 90! A few weekends ago I was surprised to see it in the 40's or 50's and shocked to see it even serving out anything at a 90. Shortly after an email to support, the load was down. So far it seems to be hovering around 4-8 which still seems high but after realizing that it still performs at 40,50, or even 90, 4-8 doesn't seem as high anymore.
The load remained at a respectable 1 or so until recently so now I'm curious as to who's hogging up the resources. Is there an easy way of finding this rogue script or whatever it is? Or could it be cpanel or some other automated server script hogging resources for a while? Maybe there's something in the logs? Is there a way to limit resource usage for any particular process?
