When I run top, I see sendmail processes. My question is, what exactly is sendmail and when is it invoked? I don't run any forms on my site (though use email), so I'm curious where those processes are coming from, and whether it's harmful to disable sendmail on my server.
It's a dedicated server, so no chance of other accounts running.
