Disabling viewing of unowned files via ftp?

I posted this to the pureftp user list but haven't gotten a response so hopefully someone here can help.

I have a plain RH9 box setup and I installeed the latest version of pureftp and everything is working great. My problem is I need to restrict what users can see to oly files they own. I have them chrooted to thier home dir but in each of thier home dirs there are 3 files owned by root I place there. When they ftp into thier account they can see the files in thier dir that they do not own. I know this can be corrected as any file I create on a cpanel server as root in a users dir they cannot see via ftp. All without chmoding anything. How can this be done with my current setup?


Also on a side note, the users can delete the files they see and overwrite them. how do I prevent the over writing of the files even once they can't be seen? Im sure there will be a chmod command for that.
