Merak mail server question
The server handles a range of IP addresses, and I notice that Merak in its default configuration usually or always uses the lowest address in the range to connect out to other mail servers. So that would be the one for which reverse DNS would need to be set up.
But I wonder if this assumption, that Merak will always use the lowest address in the range, is reliable. Product documentation has nothing to say on the matter, and the user forum is equally in the dark.
Merak has an option to bind the smtp service to a particular IP address, but this apparently makes trouble with Windows, and the feature is poorly documented. I would rather not go there if possible.
Any advice from other Merak users would be appreciated.
