One server slower than another... weird!
We have two Windows 2000 Server, servers. Both run the exact same configuration. (Same updates... same service packs... I even defrag and restart them at the same times.)Server 1 is:
Intel P4 1.6a GHz Northwood
1 GB DDR RAM
80 GB 7200 rpm hard drive
Server 2 is:
Intel P3 1.0 GHz
512 MB SD RAM
20 GB 7200 (I think.) rpm hard drive
(We own these servers. They are co-located on the same connection and facility.)
The problem is... Server 2 is much faster (as far as downloading/uploading goes) than Server 1. I don't know why exactly. I know Server 1 has an onboard network card and Server 2 has its own PCI slot one...
I'm just not sure.
Are P3's really that much better?
