AIM vs SIM

Does anyone have any advise on using the Authoize.net AIM (Advanced
Integration Method) vs. SIM (Simple) ?

It seems that if we use SIM, it may be more secure since all credit card processing happens on their server. But how much configurability will we loose? Are we at more risk (re: security) if we set up SSL on our host and use the AIM method?

Authoize.net calls AIM the preferred method. Why? What are the disadvantages to using
SIM?
