which rh9 packages do i need??
i have just cobbled together a second pc onto which i want to install redhat 9 with a view to bring myself up to date with how to patch my own webserver and compile etc etc
it will also run as a development server for myself for stuff like php/perl etc.
i run through the install and got it up and running fine but it is so full of junk its making it difficult to determine whats essential and whats not so i'm not learning too much.
basically i want to install it so i only have the bare essentials to run rh9 from which i want to install myself apache/php/mysql/gd and the various other apps i may use.
could anyone be so kind as to tell me what packages i need to install to ensure i have the tools i will need to keep the server running. e.g. tar, vi, pico, gunzip, etc... but not much extraneous junk.
