What operating system is the best for running a counter-strike server? I'm building a dual opteron machine with 2gb of memory and hosting it on the netfire network. I spoke to the netfire represenative and he said I can run about 250 cs player slots w/o any choke, loss, or ping issues, or performance differances.
Basically my options are Windows, FreeBSD, or Linux. I'm debatable on which one would be the best for gaming servers, counter-strike in particular. I know this question can be answered by "which do you have the most experience in?". But the answer I'm looking for is which will be the most stable and perform the best for what I'm doing.
