Malicious Downloading?

Bit of a weird one this.

We are really busy just now and as such I closed our downloads section last week.

Now some folks had the ulr ( I had just changed the nav) now a few hundred of them a day was not bothering me. But the last two days it really spiked to like 20 mpbs. I left it as I knew a hosted site had put up some new clips.

But today I downloaded the log to post some stats in here on an unrelated matter.

It showed thousands of downloads of two files:

2 War of the Ring The Lord of the Rings and Tolkien site
http://www.warofthering.net/ 20.08% 3,574
3 http://www.warofthering.net/ downloads/orlandodownloads/
sgn_full.asf 8.86% 1,577

Now fine you might say, but the weird bit is they are really old. Like Fellowship of the Ring stuff. We might expect a few downlaods a day of these. But these figures are like the ones we get with hot new files or scoops.

No refferals in the logs and we have not mentioend these in ages. They are dated 10/22/2002!

Just find it really odd after we announced some problems with cash flow due to downloads we started getting this.

Being paranoid you think? Co-incidence? or.....
