WORM and Outlook - when does it trigger?
I looked up the symantec specs but couldn't deduce WHEN the worm actually installs and goes on a system. My question is, if it is RECEIVED by Outlook Express (POPPED from a server), and I click the email and LOOK at it but do not open the attachment, has it propogated to the system?Today I finally (thanks to this forum and mailenable), got pops and smtp working with apache, got perl yesterday and I am just about ready for a beer damn it! ya-hoooo... but as soon as the pop was working I started seeing all this worm-pucky you guys are dealing with and started setting up filters to send it to trash...
However, I did have it open in the lower window of Outlook. It didn't install from THERE, RIGHT? I did a symantec scan and it said I was clean.
So, that leads to the next question: are there any viruses out there that do NOT have to be clicked on (attachment opened) to infect a PC via Outlook?
(yes, Linuxguy, I know if I am using Outlook and NT 2000 I am sick anyway, but this is a different kind of infection

Oh and p.s.s. are there any girls in these forums or is that the untold mystery?
