anyone ever dealt with such http-requests

I've noticed a few very strange requests that looks malicious - happened a few times during past hour
there are almost 30.000 characters (27365 to be exact) in one http request. No user-agent or referer specified. It seems to be non-compressable characters.
I'm afraid that it might be sign of something bigger to come. Any ideas how to deal with it.

i'm running Apache/1.3.19 redhat 7
