Caching PHP...

Hey,

I have some heavy sites coded with PHP,
Each user request sometimes make the CPU jumps to 80%,

I'm thinking about deploying some caching system,

Anyone can give me some tips about this issue?
I know about ionCube & MMCache, there's anything better? (except the Zend performance suite which costs thousands?)
Or if no, which one should I use? any tips?
