Hello, I am building a web server with RedHat 9.0. I am using Sendmail for the mail server. I was wondering how you setup authentication to send mail through the server? Someone told me that it's not worth letting customers send e-mail through my server and that I should only give them POP3 access because if I allow my server to be a mail relay server then I will become a relay server for spam. I do not think that this would happen if I setup SMTP authentication for people to send mail through my server. I would very much like to be able to send mail through my server and not have to worry about showing up on a spam server blacklist. I'm a newbie with linux so please explain thoroughly.
