MX and A-Records Problem

Hello,

I have a problem with a site on my server. It is a Linux server (lets call it server 1), but my new website needs ASP.

So I want to forward http requests by using the A-record of the domain to forward users from Server 1 to Server 2 (which is a Windows Server), so I placed the IP address of the second server as the A-Record of the orginal domain.

Now the problem is, I want the mail to be used on the primary server. So what I thought I could do is, change the MX record of the domain to point to e.g. mail.domain.com, then insert the IP address of Server 1 into the mail A-record of the domain.

Does anyone know if this can work?
