MYSQL charsets

Hi everyone,

I'm currently running MYSQL 4.0.18 on a Fedora Core 1 system, but am encountering a problem.

I have no problem storing ISO8859-1 characters in the database, but when i try to store Russian Characters in the database, they get converted into something else.

I've spent weeks trying to find a way to change this, but to no avail.
I really hope someone can suggest a way in which to allow me to store 8859-1 and also Russian cyrillic characters in the MYSQL database.

Please please please MYSQL charsets
