removing proftpd

i put in

rpm -e proftpd

in ssh, but what i get back is this:

error: Failed dependencies:
proftpd is needed by (installed) proftpd-standalone-1.2.9-1

any ideas?

EDIT: im removing it becasue i want to install pure-ftpd.
