What is hostname?
So, I saw this option of change hostname.
My Cpanel was emailing the contact email regarding my hostname configuration.
Originally, my dedicated server host was telling me that localhost:localdomain is the correct setting however when I go to change hostname,
Cpanel suggested the followings.
Sample Hostnames:
fred.em445webhosting.com gravity.mywebhostnew.com rr4.rrhosting.com
Ten Randomly Generated Hostnames:
megabits.xxx.com levers.xxx.comsubproblem.xxx.compatricians.xxx.com quantifying.xxx.comsalesmen.xxx.comrolling.xxx.combinoculars.fusevision.com.sg geared.xxx.comhighlighting.xxx.com
Can I assume that is it more like just a name for the server? Just like it is as a computer name for Windows OS?
So, say I eventually has multiple server, I name some as....
mail.xxx.com - my mail server
mysql.xxx.com - my mysql server
web.xxx.com - my http web display server?
Am I correct on my thought of this?
