Since I moved into my University dorm connection, I have had many problems FTP'ing into my server. It's not that they have blocked FTP or anything...I can FTP into any other server just fine. To further complicate things, I am able to login to my FTP server about once every 50 times (at random). Otherwise, my FTP client (SmartFTP) simply reports a "Connection timeout. No response from server." error message for every domain on my server. Using the IP address also returns the same error. Everyone else can log in to my server just fine via FTP, and I can login just fine when I return home. I can also login to my server just fine via SSH.
There is obviously something up with my school's network, but why would they block FTP access to just my server, and leave the rest? And why would I be able to login occasionally? Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be going on here?
