Rackmount Ethernet Switch w rear ports?
I just rack mounted a 3COM ethernet switch. I was struck by how silly it seemed that I had to leave a 3/4 inch gap between the switch and my router so that I could feed ethernet cables from inside the rack, coming from the NICs, between the switch and the router (over the top of the switch) around to the front to plug into the front RJ45 ports. How do you guys normally handle this? Wouldn't it make more sense to have the ports in the back of the switch where you wouldn't see any cabling? If so, can someone recommend where I can find an 8 or 12 port gigabit switch with rear jacks?
