Can't access DirectAdmin???

Hey -- I could really use some help!

My server's been running fine for about a month and a half now, but a couple days ago things went weird. We got most of the problems fixed up, but there's two major ones left -- 1, all of the websites display forbidden error pages, 2 -- I can't access DirectAdmin anymore. The error pages are due to messed up config files, I'm assuming, so if I could only get into DirectAdmin and have it rewrite them, they would be fine....right? But any ideas for how?

The whole situation is really awkward -- almost like someone got the password and went around messing up permissions for fun. Perhaps it's a permissions problem keeping DA from running.

If I shell in as root (the only account that lets me log in now???) and enter `top` in the command line, da-popb4smtp is one of the services that's running. Is that DirectAdmin? Or how would I start DirectAdmin? But if that is direct admin, why wouldn't it work? Any ideas? I can supply whatever info you need, I'm just not sure what all would help.

Also -- when I try to shell in with any username except for root, it logs me out right after I connect.

Everything was fine till a couple days ago, and supposedly neither of the two of us with root access messed with anything. So I'm wondering what happened and how to fix it?

Thanks,
Rick
