Image::Magick and Movable Type
Hi guys, I've been loitering on these forums for months now, and every time I've had an issue with one of my servers, I can run over here and find answers and suggestions to help me out. This time, though, I stumped and could really use some help.I'm a web designer with a handful of dedicated servers where I place my clients' sites. I have two servers with one provider, and the third server with Liquid Web. They set it up about two months ago and everything's been fine until this past week when I installed Movable Type. I use MT as a Content Management System for my clients-- always have. Have never had ANY problems with the image upload feature or using Image Magick to automatically create thumbnails.
However, I'm getting a 500 internal server error when I attempt to resize images. The upload feature is fine-- it's just the resizing that creates the error. MT is recognizing that I:M is installed and is reporting:
Your server has Image::Magick installed (version 6.2.0).
I have scoured the internet looking for answers, including the MT support forum, reinstalled Image Magick and PerlMagick, tried different versions of IM, updated CPanel, and submitted numerous support tickets to the guys over at Liquid Web and they aren't getting anywhere with this. I've talked to five different guys over the past week, and although I assume they probably *are* working on it like they say they are, they aren't getting anywhere. I just got off the phone with one of them, who informed me that they've had Image Magick installed across their servers for years and have never had any problems with it, but that they've never been able to get I:M to work with Movable Type. He went on to note that it MUST be a problem with the application.
Well, it's not. As I mentioned, I had two other servers with someone else and MT works with Image Magick beautifully. Same version of the script. It's either a problem with the server, with Image Magick itself not being installed properly, or a missing required module to go along with it.
He also told me they'd let me know when they figured something out. Meanwhile, I've already been waiting for days (rather patiently, I might add) and I have two or three websites sitting on this server that REQUIRE Image Magick to work with Movable Type. I either need to get this resolved NOW, or I'm going to have to leave Liquid Web this weekend. I don't have time for this-- I'm getting passed from guy to guy to guy and being told that I need to call back on Monday to talk to the last guy who was working on it.
I went to LW because of these forums-- everyone here raves about them. I've yet to see why based on the support that I'm getting, but I'll be completely happy to get this issue resolved on my own with your help so I can move on and get back to work.
I'm running Fedora i686 with cPanel 10.0.0-R143, and have followed directions in this very forum to install Image Magick 6.2.0
5.5.7 was installed previously, I believe. Neither one is working. Have installed through the WHM and also manually through shell as root. When I installed manually, PerlMagick came with the tarball and I installed IM as well PM.
Can anyone at all help me with this? I would be MOST grateful. I'm not a systems administrator, but I know enough to get this taken care of if someone has any ideas.
