Sites starting to load slow, probably Apache problem, need your help.

Hello,

I have a problem with Apache (or I think it is Apache) for a last 2 weeks. At least once a day (sometimes 3 or 4 times), sites are starting to load extremly slow or don't loading at all.

In that time I am receiving tens of ThePlanet monitoring messages like:

Service: HTTP
Address:
State: CRITICAL
Additional Info: Socket timeout after 10 seconds

and several minutes later:

Service: HTTP
Address:
State: OK
Additional Info: HTTP ok: HTTP/1.1 200 OK - 7.913 second response time

(even when it is said OK, sites are still loading slow.)

If I am out and don't have internet access, this is going on for a hour or two and then Apache usually (sometimes problem is gone) goes completely down and than its restarted automa(g)ticly. Afterwards everything is fine.

If I am in office, I log into shell, issue restart httpd command and then everything works great.

When all this is happening, server loads aren't high - just like usual - and everything looks fine to me. (I've included snapshot of TOP command.)

I am not an expert so any help or hint with this problem will be appriciated.

Thanks!
