/usr partition: what to delete?

Hello

I'm getting warnings about the /usr partition being about 90% full.

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda5 2.0G 259M 1.7G 14% /
/dev/hda1 69M 14M 52M 22% /boot
/dev/hda8 57G 11G 44G 19% /home
none 498M 0 498M 0% /dev/shm
/dev/hda7 1012M 163M 798M 17% /tmp
/dev/hda2 6.0G 5.1G 576M 90% /usr
/dev/hda3 6.0G 1.1G 4.6G 19% /var

First of all I would like to ask: what is causing this? I did some searches and I know that /usr/local/apache/(dom)logs can get really big. But can I just delete those large logfiles? Aren't those files used by the stats-scripts?

Also, which other files located on /usr can I delete?

Thanks
