Power consumption in rackmounted applications
I'm just curious: How do modern housing environments cope with those power hungry monster cpus?
say, how many p4s or athlon64s fit in a normal rack? do you count by power supplies or is there a rule of thumb like 110 Volt multiplied with xyz Amperes divided by the Watt count of the power supplies?
I can't imagine that a colocation hoster walks by his servers and measures their power consumption?
