Help needed: Learning FreeBSD: 4.11 .vs 6.0 (with 4.x book)
Hi,I need your help in deciding which version of FreeBSD to use for learning FreeBSD. I bought the following book, then found out it focuses on FreeBSD 4.x:
FreeBSD: An Open-Source Operating System for Your Personal Computer, 2nd edition
I'm wondering if I should install 4.11 and work through this book (which is written for FreeBSD 4.x) -- or install 6.0 (beta3, then RELEASE when it comes out) and work through this book, hoping the 4.11 .vs 6.0 differences don't get in the way of a *nix novice learning FreeBSD.
Is there enogh difference between 4.11 and 6.0 that I would likely have trouble working through a book geared to 4.11 when I have 6.0 installed on my computer? I want to learn enough to run my own public server.
Please help!
