AMD Athlon X2 and 4 gigs of ram
Silly me to think that a 64 bit processor can address 4 gigs of ram but this reminds me of the old upper memory about 640k days in the 80s.I got an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium motherboard that doesn't want to work with 4 GIGS of ram. Seems to work with 2 gigs just fine but put 4 gigs in and it crashes.
Ising Fedora Core 4 with 2.6.12 kernel.
nForce 4 chip set.
ram is 4 sticks of Kingston KHX3200/1GR
Crashes seem to happen with heave disk IO and error giberish indicates file system related stuff with sata_nv in there a lot.
So - what am I doing wrong? Is there a motherboard out there that alows an Athlon 64 X2 to talk to 4 gigs+ ram?
Trying to replace an older dual xeon box and I though it was going to be faster - but it doesn't seem to work at all.
