have problem with /backups please help

Hello

I get today e-mail from cpanel that /backups is 100 % used

I entered to ssh and get this informations

root@host [/home]# df

/tmp 247919 4765 230354 3% /var/tmp
root@host [/home]# cd /backups
root@host [/backups]# ls
root@host [/backups]# ls -al
total 0


so I see that /backups is full and I don't found anything in it

How I can solve this ASAP cause I need data it is very important data
