Failover Solution

We have quite a few servers hosted at The Planet. Up until now, our 'restore' procedure for hardware failures has been to have the OS reloaded and then a backup restored from their backup system. This works fine, but we'd like to shorten the downtime.

So the best option, that I can think of, is duplicating the contents of Drive 1 to Drive 2 on each machine about once per week (each machine has 2 drives). I do not want to use RAID since most would have to use software RAID and/or have to have the OS reinstalled just to get RAID setup. Plus, I don't really believe in using RAID as a backup solution anyway.

Will a program such as Norton Ghost [reliably] do something like this? The idea is that if HDD 1 fails, we can have them make HDD2 the primary drive and be back up within the hour and then restore any missing files from the previous week from backup.

These are all Windows 2003 Servers.

Thanks!
