using .htaccess with Godaddy to prevent hotlinking

Hey guys, I'm trying to figure out how to use .htaccess file with a Godaddy host in order to prevent hotlinking. With my main host, all I had to do was edit and drop in an .htaccess file into the root directory, and voila, no more hotlinking. But it doesn't seem to work with Godaddy at all. I've emailed their super duper piece of sh*t "customer service" twice, and each time got a canned response that goes, to paraphrase, "Yup, you can prevent hotlinking, but we can't tell you how". No, seriously, this was their response. Two times, two different ways, by two different guys, saying yes, there is a way, but they can't tell me how to do it. WTF???

Anyone have experience with using htaccess with Godaddy to prevent hotlinking of images, and can tell me how? Thanks.
