How to setup redundancy?
Hi,Yes, I know this has been brought up before, but my issue is a little different.
We've signed up with another hosting provider, and have asked them to redirect all requests of our domain back to our main server (on a different host and network), but to only allow a certain subdomain of our domain to resolve to them.
My question is this; we took down our main server this morning to see if the redundancy would work, and if requests for subdomain.dnware.com (not actual subdomain) would redirect to our backup provider. Unfortunately, they did not reroute, even after clearing our cache by ipconfig \flushdns. I'm guessing the problem lays with the ISP's and their dns for the subdomain being cached.
How do we setup this form of "redundancy" where subdomain.dnware.com will reroute to our backup provider if our main server is down?
