Memory and swap usage

Hi,

I've got the follwing problem. I hope it's the right place to post that. One of our servers is crashing at least once a day (always the same one). I could not find the problem yet but I guess it must be something with the memory and the swap usage. The system is running fine but suddenly to load goes up and the swap as well.

When I compare the Memory on this server an the other servers the buffer is quit short at this one and is getting higher after a restart very quickly:

4:08pm up 1:12, 3 users, load average: 1.01, 1.14, 1.09
207 processes: 205 sleeping, 1 running, 1 zombie, 0 stopped
CPU0 states: 17.2% user, 10.2% system, 5.1% nice, 71.4% idle
CPU1 states: 10.2% user, 11.0% system, 1.2% nice, 78.4% idle
CPU2 states: 9.2% user, 2.3% system, 0.0% nice, 87.3% idle
CPU3 states: 7.2% user, 10.4% system, 2.2% nice, 81.1% idle
Mem: 1030560K av, 986860K used, 43700K free, 0K shrd, 35824K buff
Swap: 1052216K av, 5088K used, 1047128K free 663476K cached

I also get this message in the WHM and I think it's also not good:

User Domain %CPU %MEM Mysql Processes
root 25.11 80.85 1.9
Top Process %CPU 99.9 /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -DSSL
Top Process %CPU 89.0 /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -DSSL
Top Process %CPU 81.5 /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -DSSL

The problem is that there are not many apache childs in use. Less than 100 and mysql is also quit deep with about 50 processes.

I hope you guys can help me in this case, cause I have no idea what it could be.

Thanks for every hint!

Regards,
Claudius
