distributing a PayPal phishing scam

I received this notice from my hosting company today:

xx.xx.xx.xx has been reported multiple times as distributing a PayPal phishing scam email. Complaint attached.

I was not aware the this PayPal Phishing worm was affecting servers. If this false email is sent from my server because clients are opening it and using my smtp server, is this something that I am responsible for?

What should my next steps be?
