Can you figure this out...

Hello,

I have a question.

When users setup their Outlook express or any other mail client, cPanel requires them to enter their full email address as their username. Now, if they are connecting to mail.theirdomain.com why would it be necessary for them to enter their full email address as their username? I assume that the purpose of putting the full email address as their username is so that the system can resolve which shadow file to use when authenticating the password... but the client is connecting to mail.THEIRDOMAIN.com - so it already knows the domain name (hence not needing the full email address).

Maybe I'm missing the point here but is there anyway to "tell" cPanel to authenticate the password provided based on the mail server the user is trying to connect to???
