Transferring data from server to home

I've been using an ssh file transfer program to download log files to my home pc.

However there are some domlogs that are over 800mb and the transfer rate is going at 20kbytes.

Is there a way to get maximum speed to download the file faster, also I think the ssh file transfer could be the problem as I've never been able to download anything faster than 20-30kbytes.
