Who is responsible
Opinions ( on the scenario, not our particular systems or clients) please:Scenario:
A scripting language like php for instance, goes through several versions in a short space of time. For example 4.3x to 4.3.11.
As a web host you understand the urgency of patching & updating so you do so.
Now some time later various clients start turning up with "broken" php sites.
Inevitably they turn to the web host and say " it was working before" , implying that the host should "fix" the problem.
You as the host are now left with the issue of who is responsible for fixing the code.
If you take the stance that it wasn't coded right to begin with ( ie amateur scripter) then you stand to lose the client.
If you take the stance that you are responsible then you stand to gain a huge headache.
