rewrite doesn't work after apache recompilation?

I'm clueless on getting mod_rewrite work (or soemthing is wrong) although mod_rewrite is already enabled in httpd.conf, tried easyapache to recompile the apache for several times with no luck.

Any idea what's wrong?
