How do you keep your servers up to date?
How do you guys keep your machine(s) updated and secure?Do you use systems that came with the distribution or do you have your own way of applying fixes, patches, updates, etc.?
I've heard that if I use a rpm-based distro such as SuSE and CentOS, that it's best to install ant maintain it with RPM packages (compiling apps from source is supposed to make a mess of a OS in this cases).
True or false?
I only own one machine with Slackware on it and recompiling Apache and PHP once in a while really isn't too bad, but I am still interested in more effiecent ways of maintaining a web server (or more servers)
